Benefits of EV

There are following benefits of EVs:

Running at lower price:

Cost of EV charging is lower as compared to the ICE Vehicles running on the petrol/diesel. The electricity cost can be reduced more if EV charging by RE sources or charging at free charging stations.

Lower maintenance cost:

Moving parts in BES has lesser than the conventional ICE Vehicle so servicing at lower cost, easy and less regular than ICE vehicle. PHEVs maintenance cost more than BEV because it also having petrol/diesel engine.

Environmental friendly:

EV reduces less or zero harmful air pollution from exhaust emission but still creates some GHG emissions when it charged from the Grid.

GHG emission can be reduced by charging the EV from renewable energy based charging station or purchasing RE based power.

Grid side benefits:

Smart charging or co-ordinated charging can help the utility to create flat electricity demand profile by charging EV during off-peak hours and implementing ToU/dynamic tariff can also help to reduce charging cost of EVs.
